Lake Lawtonka

Lake Lawtonka is a reservoir located in southwestern Oklahoma, USA. It was formed in 1901 by damming Medicine Creek, a tributary of the Red River. The lake is situated in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which covers an area of over 59,000 acres. Lake Lawtonka is a popular destination for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, camping, and hiking. It is also a source of drinking water for the city of Lawton. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. It is named after General Henry Ware Lawton, a U.S. Army officer who was killed in the Philippine-American War.
